Self Defense/Self Protection:

Stand Strong Kids:
"Stand Strong Kids" is a confidence-building and bully-proofing workshop-based program designed to help children feel safe, strong, and empowered in their everyday lives. Through age-appropriate discussions and interactive activities, kids learn what bullying really is, why bullies behave the way they do, and—most importantly—how to respond without fear or aggression. Basic techniques in warding off pushes and strikes, "what if" scenarios (suchs as "what if your friend was being bullied? Would you stand up for them and report to a grownup?") and awareness drills are taught through interactive activities and gamified drills. Worshops available for kids groups and organizations such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports teams, elementary, middle and high schools. 60 to 90 minute group sessions may be scheduled at your venue or at our home base, Seattle Wushu Martial Arts Center in West Seattle.

(Note: this is not an ongoing martial arts class. For martial arts classes, contact Restita at her studio email [email protected]

Fundamental self defense for Women and Teen Girls:
These workshops feature discussion about situational awareness, the 5 principles of self defense, the importance of practice, use of force laws in Washington State, and basic physical self defense tactics. In person class. We also offer co-ed classes or classes specifically for men and teen boys.

"EDC:  Tools in your Everday Carry for self protection":
A great followup to the Fundamental self defense class! This class focuses on the things that you normally carry in your purse, daypack, backpack, etc, that may be used for self protection & self defense tools. That Sharpie in your purse front pocket? That's a palm stick for stirking vital areas. That umbrella? That's great for club-based defense. Includes instruction in the use of force continuum. In person class.

"Self protection: You are your own best first responder":
This live Zoom discussion focuses on the difference between self protection and self defense, the choice to do practice both, the concept of "commitment" when it comes to self defense, situational awareness and principles of self defense. This class is a free Zoom discussion, and a great intro to the fundamental self defense workshop.

Firearm safety and training:

"Thinking of purchasing a firearm?: Things to consider before purchase":
Concealed carry becomes a lifestyle, instead of just having a weapon in your purse or backpack. This Zoom live discussion discusses things to think about before purchasing a firearm: Why do you want to carry?, emotional and practical readiness, legal aspects, firearm fit and function, carry options, and training.

Women's Fundamental Gun Safety and Basic handgun operation (non live-fire):
This in person class meets the Washington State requirements for taking a gun safety class as prerequisite for purchasing a firearm. After the initial instruction, participants will learn the basic operation of a handgun and get coached practice operating a laser cartridge handgun through dry-fire training. This is a non live fire class, and no live ammunition is used in this class.
This class is also offered in Co-Ed format.

Women's Handgun Level 1:  Prerequisite:
Fundamental gun Safety and Basic handgun operation class with Encompass Defense, or equivalent certification from another qualified instructor or organization.
This in person class takes participants from dry fire to live fire at the range. Particpants are continually coached in elements that were introduced in the "fundamental gun safety and basic handgun operation" class; grip, stance, trigger control, aiming ,etc. Only 2 people per session, for optimal coaching attention.

Note: There is a commute time from classroom to range, so please take this into consideration when taking this class, and please plan on 3 to 4 hours, depending on how busy it is at the range.
This class is also offered in Co-Ed format.

Women's Handgun Level 2:  Prerequisite: Women's handgun level 1, or equivalent certification from another qualified instructor or organization.
This class continues practice with basic shooting skils, and introduces on-body concealed carry options, how to draw the handgun effectively and correctly from concealment, deal with common malfunctions, and more.  This class is a combination of drawing and dry fire with laser cartridge, correcting malfunctions, and live fire practice at the range. However please note, drawing from holster might not be allowed at the range where we will be practicing.

Note: There is a commute time from classroom to range, so please take this into consideration when taking this class, and please plan on 3 to 4 hours, depending on how busy it is at the range.
Only 2 people per session, for optimal coaching attention.
This class is also offered in Co-Ed format.
