About Encompass Defense Collective
Restita DeJesus
Founder, Encompass Defense Collective
Restita DeJesus has studied Martial Arts and Self Protection since 1978, pursuing systems that included empty hand and martial arts weapons techniques. In 1990 she opened her first commercial martial arts school afer several years of teaching in local community centers.
Although she was interested in firearms since the early 1990s, she stopped conceal carry in the late 1990's after a situation where her first thought was to go for her weapon in an enounter that potentially could have turned violent.
While she de-escalated the situation, she stopped carrying because at the time she believed she needed more training in both self protection mindset so as to not brandish a firearm in haste, and additional training in the "use-of-force continuum" in order to prepare for self defense encounters.
Restita has since trained with various instructors in self defense tactics, tools and firearms, and is a USCCA certified Instructor in concealed carry fundamentals and home defense fundamentals. She also teaches classes in use of the stick/baton, palm stick (kubotan), Empty hand defense and stress mitigation methods (Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation).
Restita developed Encompass Defense Collective with the mission of bringing together a network of self defense instruction professionals. The network would provide education and training outside of the mainstream martial arts, specializing in self protection and self defense to adults and youth. Co-Ed classes are available upon request.
